Bringing together my creative work as a photographer and my academic focus on Latin American literature and culture, this project examines the 2,000-mile US-Mexico border beyond its traditional visual clichés. By documenting the vital community of literary figures shaping the dialogue on both sides of the line, the series looks to broaden the narrative of this complex region.
From emerging voices to internationally recognized authors, these portraits examine the borderlands as a critical space where identity, culture, and nationality intersect.
This ongoing project has been shared in exhibitions across both the United States and Mexico, with images appearing in various magazines, newspapers, and journals. By pairing these portraits with original texts contributed by the authors, the series seeks to build a rich, multifaceted archive of a region that deserves to be seen in all its nuance.
